Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10am:
Volunteers are needed to place flags on the civil war veterans’ headstones throughout Oakwood Cemetery. If you have any questions, please contact Linda M. Poole at 815-955-3750.
Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 10am:
Once again this year, Company H 10th Illinois Infantry and Company K 100th Illinois Infantry will be hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery. They will place flags on the Civil War soldiers’ headstones next to the Rotunda and present a 21-gun salute to honor all veterans. The Col. Frederick A. Bartleson Chapter, National Society Daughters of the Union 1861-1865, is honored to be part of the program.

Pondrán banderas junto a las tumbas de los soldados de la Guerra Civil y harán una salva de 21 disparos para honrar a todos los veteranos.
El grupo “Capítulo Col. Frederick A. Bartleson, Hijas de la Unión 1861–1865” también participará en el evento.

Joliet Township Animal Control to Host “Hogs & Dogs” Community Event 

Event to Feature Pet Adoptions, Motorcycle Displays, Live Demonstrations, and Local Vendors 

Get ready for a day of fun, food, and furry friends at Joliet Township Animal Control’s Hogs & Dogs event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 12 PM to 3 PM at 2807 McDonough Street, Joliet, IL 60436. This exciting community gathering brings together motorcycle enthusiasts, pet lovers, and local vendors for an unforgettable experience that supports animal welfare. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet adoptable pets from Joliet Township Animal Control and learn about responsible pet ownership. The event will also feature a stunning motorcycle display by the Chicago Viclero Motorcycle Club, as well as live demonstrations from Mallard Point Vet Clinic, Ty Ty the Reptile Guy, and Furiends of Manhattan Pet Pantry. 

In addition to the entertainment, attendees can browse various vendors, including Scentsy, Intermode (pet-friendly plants), and Best in Show Pet Grooming, which will be offering $5 nail trims. Food lovers can enjoy delicious eats from Hectic Tacos Taco Truck and sweet treats from Brook Bakes, with 10% of proceeds donated to JTAC. 

As part of its commitment to pet safety and well-being, JTAC is offering free microchips for the first 10 pets and $10 microchips all day. Guests can also support the shelter by donating $10 or a bag of dog food in exchange for two hot dogs and a drink. 

“This event is a fantastic way for the community to come together, enjoy great food and entertainment, and support local animals in need,” said Director of Joliet Township Animal Control Whitney McGill. “Whether you’re a motorcycle enthusiast, an animal lover, or just looking for a fun afternoon, Hogs & Dogs has something for everyone.”

Flag raising for Joliet Pridefest 2024

JOLIET, IL – September 21, 2024. In celebration of Joliet PrideFest this weekend, we were proud to raise the pride flag outside of our main offices alongside members of the Joliet Pride Network and our vibrant community.

The Joliet Pride Network held its annual Joliet PrideFest event on Saturday, July 21, 2024 at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre in Joliet. The family-friendly event featured live music, food, and activities for children and teens.

Joliet Pride Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting inclusion, dignity and acceptance through advocacy for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Their organization is committed to creating safe spaces and fostering diversity.

Together, we continue to foster inclusivity, love, and unity in Joliet.

Joliet Township hosted a Free Movie Night at the Slammer’s Stadium this past Sunday evening. All families were welcomed to enjoy the movie Spider-Man No Way Home.

Outreach at Healthy Neighbors Resource Fair

Our General Assistance Caseworker Soledad Ruiz and Sue Bustin participated in the Healthy Neighbors Resource Fair this past Saturday June 25th. The organization Warehouse Workers for Justice orgaized the event for the local community to learn about available services and enjoy some food and refreshments. We are thankful for the local organizations that continuously uplift our residents.
