Office of the Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is the official record keeper for Joliet Township. The Clerk’s Office maintains all township documents, records, and official papers, preserving the history and business of local government.

What the Clerk's Office Does

As clerk of the Township Board, the clerk attends all board meetings, takes minutes, and keeps an accurate record of the decisions made on behalf of residents. While the clerk sits on the Board as a non-voting member, the clerk may cast a tie-breaking vote when filling a vacancy in a township office.

The clerk also serves as the District Clerk for the Road District, working alongside the Highway Commissioner to maintain road district records, process warrants for road work, and handle bid advertisements for township road projects.

Each year, the Clerk’s Office certifies the township’s tax levy to the Will County Clerk, ensuring the proper amount is collected to fund township services.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING APRIL 8, 2025

Would you like to add a specific agenda item for this year’s Town Meeting?

Items to the Town Meeting Agenda can be considered as long as the petition is made by a group of fifteen or more registered voters in the township and submit such items to the township board for consideration by March 1, 2025. However, the agenda items must be relevant to the powers granted to the electors under the Township Code before they may be considered for placement in the annual town meeting agenda.

Joliet Township has prepared a submittal form that can be printed and completed by residents to formally submit their proposed agenda items.
