Meet the Trustees: Archie Gavin

Archie Gavin, Trustee, Joliet Township Government 

Archie Gavin was sworn in as a Trustee of Joliet Township Government in May 2025. He is a lifelong resident of Joliet and a proud product of the Joliet public school system, having attended Union School and Joliet East High School. 

Archie brings 49 years of experience in the electrical wholesaling industry, where he built a reputation as a practical problem-solver and skilled mediator who helps others find common ground. He is deeply passionate about mentoring youth and is committed to educating young people about the civic process and how government works. 

His dedication to public service includes nearly a decade of experience in township government, having previously served as Township Collector and Trustee. Archie is passionate about staying connected with residents and helping keep neighborhoods informed about important community matters. 

He volunteers with the National Hook-Up of Black Women, an organization led by his wife, Bettye Gavin. Bettye is a former Joliet City Council member, a nurse by profession, and the former director of the Forest Park Neighborhood Community Center. 

In his free time, Archie enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Archie Gavin, Fideicomisario, Municipio de Joliet 

Archie Gavin juró su cargo como Fideicomisario del Municipio de Joliet en mayo del 2025. Archie ha vivido toda su vida en Joliet y estudió en las escuelas públicas de la ciudad, incluyendo las escuelas Union School y Joliet East High School. 

Tiene 49 años de experiencia en ventas eléctricas al por mayor, donde se destacó por resolver problemas y ayudar a otros a encontrar acuerdos. Le apasiona guiar a los jóvenes y enseñarles cómo funciona el gobierno. 

Ha servido casi diez años en el gobierno del municipio, incluyendo cargos como Recaudador Municipal y Fideicomisario. Le importa mantenerse en contacto con los vecinos y mantenerlos informados sobre lo que pasa en la comunidad. 

Es voluntario en National Hook-Up of Black Women, organización que dirige su esposa, Bettye Gavin, exconcejal de Joliet, enfermera y exdirectora del Centro Comunitario de Forest Park. 

En su tiempo libre, disfruta jugar golf y pasar tiempo con su esposa, hijos, nietos y bisnietos.
