Greater Illinois Violence Prevention Council Coordinator (GI-VPCC)- JOLIET

The Violence Prevention Council Coordinator assumed the responsibilities of the former Local Advisory Council of Joliet. These responsibilities include meeting coordination, reporting, partnerships, collaborations, recruitment, monitoring, community engagement, emergency meetings, events, and the implementation of the Racial Equity Impact Assess League (REIAL). By building a consensus on identified needs and priorities related to reducing firearm violence and increasing public safety, members come together to develop an effective firearm reduction support system that is community-informed and led. The goal is to produce a policy that aims to reduce and prevent violence and re-traumatization in the Greater Joliet Area.

Membership to the R.E.I.A.L is open to local government, individuals with public health experience in gun violence prevention or youth development, residents living in an area with a high concentration of firearm violence, representatives of each RPSA-funded grantees in the municipality, representatives of public safety net offices (i.e., local SNAP, TANF, or WIC), law enforcement agencies, local businesses, public middle and high schools, and local community colleges.

Greater Illinois Violence Prevention Council Coordinator (GI-VPCC)- JOLIET

“‘Service has no Boundaries’, this is my mantra. I created this saying after working over two decades in constituent services. My journey started when I was a teenager. While working for my local elected official, I gained extensive knowledge in how important neighborhood, community, resources and unity is to the quality of life. I have had the pleasure of serving as a Legislator Director for a state representative, Treasurer for state senators, Communications for sheriffs, Campaign Coordinator for district attorneys, Organizer for gubernatorial candidates and  city council members, Senior Citizen Coordinator for mayoral candidates, Health Equity Navigator for the state of Illinois and currently a Violence Prevention Coordinator for Joliet Township Government, but most of all I serve to the Will of the Lord. It is my pleasure and Honor to help our neighbors and community thrive and advance. My gift is helping.”
