Weed Control

Joliet Township Government provides a weed control program that conforms to the Illinois Noxious Weed Law. This law states that thistles and other noxious weeds growing on property in Joliet Township are a general nuisance. This includes grass, which is not allowed to grow higher than 10 inches. Once the Township receives a complaint of high grass and weeds, the law states that the property owner be notified in writing of the complaint, and be given ten (10) days in which to bring the property into compliance. If after this time the property has not been brought into compliance, the Township will make arrangements for the property to be cut and the owner will be billed for the cost. Complaints regarding high weeds and grass in unincorporated Joliet Township may be directed to the Supervisor’s Office at
(815) 726-4781.
